Ballyshunnock is a managed fishery on a 70 acre
reservoir in County Waterford, located just off the N25 Waterford
to Cork Road.
.
Angling on this
water is strictly by permit only.
The Southern Regional
Fishery Board, in partnership with Waterford & District
Coarse Angling Club, have begun a major redevelopment of this fishery.
The work includes remodelling of the underwater contours off of
both Southern and Northern banks East of the dividing road. Arising
from an extensive Access
audit for the fishery, also in development are 30 disabled access
pegs, as well as wheelchair friendly access to the waterside. A
total of 60 custom built pegs; with pathways, seating and shelters
are also in the process of development.
Combined with this work, a programme of stocking has been undertaken.
Already 10,000 seven inch Brown Trout have been added to the lakes'
resident wild Brown Trout population. Spring and early summer will
see the addition of Bream, Hybrids and Tench. This, combined with
the lakes' large shoals of Rudd, will ensure quality sport for all
permit holders.
